birgunj chamber of commerce & industries was established in 1944 a.d under the leadership of late mr. dwarika prasad maskara. it is the oldest chamber of commerce of nepal. it was first commenced as birgunj cloth merchants association, which was renamed as birgunj merchants' association and finally converted into birgunj chamber of commerce & industries. bicci was registered, first with the department of commerce in 1967 and was again registered with local cdo office in 1997. it celebrated its golden jubilee in the year 1993 a.d. bicci is one of the founder member of federation of nepalese chamber of commerce & industry (fncci), an umbrella body of entire business community of nepal.
