blackpool lights is the exciting new channel 5 series which follows the summer season in this most british of seaside resorts. the characters in channel 5’s new series blackpool lights are so much larger than life that you couldn’t make them up...so we didn’t (but we weren't above tweaking the action just a bit to help them to conquer their natural shyness). the cameras move in with real-life north pier comic joey blower, whose dearest wishes are to lose weight, clean up his act, and find a girlfriend he could take home to meet mother. there are business and romantic partners steven and leigh who run the d’lovely b&b and who are looking forward to blackpool’s gay pride weekend. then there is aspiring tycoon and local “king of the slots” chris higgitt who shows us some of the inside tricks of the amusement arcade game. we meet alan haworth from 'haworths famous bingo' as he desperately tries to conquer his fear of flying so he can travel to meet the love
