在牙買加出生的 chris blackwell，自從母親的家族 lindo family在1625年來到牙買加之後， 就和蘭姆酒有很大的關聯。他的祖父過去擁有 j. wray＆nephew 蒸餾廠 和 appleton estate rum的經營權，許多蘭姆酒相關的歷史及流傳下來的產品都和他們的家族有很深的淵源。 1959年，chris blackwell 在英國創立小島唱片- island records，他把牙買加特有的雷鬼音樂和雷鬼音樂的鼻祖bob marley介紹給全世界觀眾。 除此之外，小島唱片旗下還有許多在世界的樂壇上具有影響力的歌星如： 英國創作歌手 cat stevens，牙買加創作歌手 grace jones，創作歌手 nick drake 和羅西樂團 roxy music...等等。 在把小島唱片賣掉後，chris blackwell 把心力轉向了飯店業 - 邁阿密海灘和牙買加的飯店集團。他成功的把1980年充滿古巴黑幫的邁阿密海灘打造成歌手朝聖的創作地: the marlin hotel (http://themarlinhotel.com/) ; 另外，他在牙買加的家，牙買加飯店之一的黃金眼 goldeneye，是007 的作者的 ian fleming 創作007 系列作品時的居住地方。 “黑色傳奇"是 chris blackwell 延續家族傳統，在豐富的人生經歷及傳奇背景下為世人所呈現的一種全新生活態度。 本公司為英國blackwell集團亞洲分公司 2015年在台灣正式成立並跨足台灣酒類市場 集團橫跨美國、英國、南美等地，預計以台灣為基地向中國等亞州市場前進
