the blue hen organics recycling center is the first landscaping residual composting facility in sussex county, delaware. the facility is permitted by dnrec to process clean, non-toxic, non-hazardous biodegradable materials such as yard waste ( grass clippings, leaves, brush), land clearing debris, construction wood, and poultry manure. these materials are professionally recycled into compost, topsoil, and specialty compost-based soil blends. the facility is open to the general public, landscaping contractors, and commercial haulers for organic residual drop off of yard waste for $20 per ton and source separated construction wood for $40/ton. blue hen organics is open for material drop off, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, monday to saturday. aged hardwood mulch and premium blended topsoil, and bay organics green compost is now available for sale.
