black is the new green is dropping eco-consciousness like it’s hot. using the internet and social media as drivers for action-oriented initiatives and live events, black is the new green (bng) makes a green lifestyle desirable and accessible to those who have historically been excluded from the green movement. all epidemics start with a carrier, commonly known as patient ø. the bng epidemic starts with diva ø, the trendsetter creating positive peer pressure around being green. while bng’s target population is african american, the movement is open to all citizens and is designed to answer the questions “why should i care about the environment?” and “what can i do?” bng is a stylish call to action that speaks to a major segment of the population, compels them recognize their power and helps them to design a green lifestyle in a way that is personally meaningful to them.
