part of the school of architecture and planning (sa+p) at the university of texas at san antonio (utsa), the building performance laboratory (bplab) is a not-for-profit research, development and demonstration facility dedicated to accelerating the development and commercialization of next-generation, energy-efficient, healthy design and construction technologies. the bplab includes facilities for research and development, as well as prototype and product testing. funding for the work done at bplab is provided by private and public agencies, including bplab collaborators. working in partnership with designers, manufacturers, end users, utilities, government agencies, and others, bplab commercializes sustainable design technologies, producing new technologies, inventions, patents, and license agreements. bplab also provides engineering specifications, market research, resources, construction and design guides, working papers, and white papers. the bplab conducts technology demonstrations
