Bury Court Opera

bury court opera is a small country-house opera company dedicated to the development of young professional artists and production teams at the start of their careers. based in the intimate and acoustically superb barn at bury court on the hampshire/surrey borders, we present our annual opera in march, with (typically) four performances and an additional concert. after the performance we transform the auditorium into a tiered dining hall so that guests can enjoy a rather special post-opera dinner. we work closely with our orchestra, the renowned southbank sinfonia, which also champions young artists. our mission is to present opera of the highest quality (within the limitations of our stringent budgetary controls!) and to create memorable, emotionally engaging, experiences for our audiences. since we were founded in 2007 we have produced seven fully staged operas, gaining a devoted (and growing) audience and critical acclaim.
