bus-tech was founded in 1987 as a developer of mainframe channel emulation technology. our initial product was a single board computer, which connected ethernet networks to mainframe channels in support of tcp/ip on the mainframe. today, we are connecting open system storage arrays to mainframes in support of virtual tape (or tape-on-disk) and 3390 (eckd) emulation . all of our products are based on our channel adapter products (ficon & escon) each being distinguished by the particular channel emulation for the particular application. mainframes have been repositioned in the marketplace as the premier enterprise server, providing a large supportable and reliable repository for today's data-intensive client/server applications. advancements in disk technology, where reliability has surpassed that of tape and the cost per mb is under one cent, have made tapeless backup an attractive option to physical tape. in addition, the advancement of internet technologies, more specifically tcp/ip,
