Bushikori Christian Centre

the bushikori christian centre can be found outside the township of mbale in eastern uganda. it is run by anne wandendeya, wife of the late rev. sam wandendeya and employs more than 30 ugandan staff. founded in 1982 to care for the neediest in the community, bushikori christian centre (bcc) has been empowering the vulnerable and disadvantaged in rural communities near mbale for the last twenty-eight years. the late rev. sam wandendeya began the organisation by initially offering sponsorship and support to children orphaned as a result of the idi amin regime. bcc has since become an integral part of the fabric of the community, and has since grown in the number of children that it sponsors and the services that it provides. currently the centre consists of an outpatients clinic, small hospital, midwife unit, joshua primary school, and a community library. bushikori, in conjunction with the australian support committee, has 349 children sponsored in the greater mbale area. through the co
