bvdrone is focused on demanding drone operations beyond visual line of sight (bvlos) operations for civil customers. in 2018, the lack of routine procedures to approving and safely managing bvlos operations, means that most civil drone operations are performed within visual line of sight (vlos). the vast majority of professional drone applications is in aerial photography, creating a new market, which not existed before. however, to compete with manned aviation, drones have to be allowed to routinely fly bvlos under similar conditions to manned aviation. this is already possible in finland, due to liberal regulations, allowing bvlos operations in temporary danger area airspace (tempo-d).
