Byu Department of Design

the department of design is home to the award-winning illustration, graphic design, photography, and animation programs at byu. these programs are among the most competitive at the university and produce graduates who are highly prepared for successful careers in their chosen fields. areas of study within these programs include branding, character design, game development, art direction, motion design, fine art photography, videography and more. the department of design prepares students to solve complex visual problems, which require an understanding of design thinking, the aesthetics of visual communication, and an ability to communicate narratives across a wide array of mediums and technologies.
