the eas-cap industry group a broad coalition of equipment, software and service providers to the emergency alert system (eas). ecig’s mission is to promote the development, use and understanding of advanced cap-based emergency alert system capabilities. on september 25, 2008, ecig released its eas-cap profile recommendation, which was adopted substantially by fema in the development of its own cap profile for its integrated public alert and warning system (ipaws). the ecig eas-cap profile is intended to facilitate the incorporation of the common alerting protocol into the national emergency alert system (eas) in a manner consistent with fcc regulations.
