based in takaungu, kenya, the east african center for the empowerment of women and children (eac) is a non-profit organization that provides education and health improvement programs to villages along the coastline of kenya. our mission: to empower the women and children of these communities by providing assistance and access to resources, programs and tools that impact change for the community. our focus: increasing literacy for women and children, improving the health access and information available to the community, and working towards a shared goal of eradicating poverty. our approach: is community-driven, low-tech and sustainable. we are guided by the people within the communities and have concentrated our efforts on empowering them to build a brighter future - one that is filled with an abundance of opportunity. the eac currently operates a variety of successful programs, including one of the area’s highest performing nursery and primary schools, a health services outreach progr
