East of England Plastics Coalition

the east of england plastics coalition has an ambitious pledge to rid the east of england of plastic pollution by 2030. bringing together local authorities, private businesses and ngos motivated by this goal, the coalition allows partners to pool resources, link up networks and avoid unnecessary duplication of efforts in the fight against plastic pollution. the coalition currently has three working groups, focussed on reducing commonly littered items in the region, commonly but incorrectly flushed items such as wet wipes and nappies, and lost or discarded fishing gear. these meet regularly to discuss and collaborate, and they are formed from representatives from 26 partner organisations including anglian water, most local councils in the region, the eastern inshore fisheries & conservation authority, keep britain tidy, cambridge university, the rivers trust and british sugar, to name but a few. we also have a close relationship with professor richard thompson obe, one of the world’s f
