East Vättern Scarp Landscape

east vättern scarp landscape is a part of a global network consisting of 651 (2015) biosphere reserves in 120 countries worldwide. the biosphere area - a positive strength for east vättern scarp landscape. in june 2012, we received the honour of becoming one of unesco´s biosphere areas. unesco is an un organ focusing on education, science and culture. a biosphere area is supposed to be a model for sustainable development with three main focuses: - contribute to preserving the cultural- and biodiversity. - promote economic development and a social development which is ecological and social sustainable. - support research, education, knowledge building and practice. the biosphere association and its operation constitute a platform for collaboration. the association ties together various stakeholders such as government agencies, farmers'​ organizations, the tourism industry, food producers and non-profit organizations and encourages commitment and pride in the area. we are a positive forc
