my name is alex and i formed east west healthcare in 2005 as a platform to integrate the best of western biomedicine and classical chinese medicine primarily in the treatment of musculoskeletal (msk) conditions including the management of pain - both acute and chronic. the frustration and anxiety of being unable to pursue interests and work; the lack of sleep and exhaustion that accompanies chronic pain (or even long-term, unremitting discomfort); the distress of not being able to spend time with loved ones - all these really resonated with me personally. the latest nice guidelines (2021) for the management of chronic pain recommends a course of 5 acupuncture treatments (together with an exercise programme and physical activity), and the 2016 nice guidelines for the treatment of low back pain recommended manual therapy in conjunction with an exercise programme. in accordance with these guidelines, as a classical acupuncture & tuina practitioner (having studied both under professor
