ecologic development fund is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower rural and indigenous peoples to restore and protect tropical ecosystems in central america and mexico. since our founding in 1993, ecologic has partnered with 627 local communities to find solutions to biodiversity loss, watershed destruction, deforestation and other issues. our motto is "conservation powered by people" - because we believe that the people who live in a place are the ones best suited to steward and protect its ecosystems for generations to come. ecologic's founding principle is that making sure local communities are active leaders in conservation of the places they live in is not only socially just, but essential for the future of our shared planet. visit our website at: http://www.ecologic.org in the united states, we are headquarted in cambridge, ma. in the field, we currently operate nine partnership-based projects in five countries: mexico, guatemala, honduras, panama, and belize.
