since it's founding in 1969, ecology action has been committed to the mission of landfill diversion and zero waste awareness in austin, texas and the surrounding region. at a time when waste management meant getting rubbish out of sight and out of mind, ecology action pioneered the development of grassroots recycling solutions that eventually helped lead to institutionalized programs like city-wide curbside recycling, the city of austin universal recycling ordinance, and the city of austin zero waste initiative. we are committed to turning waste products into resources by processing them to their highest and best use. these efforts along with ongoing educational engagement with area youth and the community at large, and constant innovation and expansion into harder and harder to recycle waste streams, have all contributed to ecology action's vision of creating a world where landfills are no longer necessary.
