Economic Engineering of Hardin County

hardin county has been losing an average of 100 residents/year for decades. if we don't reverse these trends, we will lose the critical mass needed to support family life as we know it. economic development and community leaders in hardin county have worked together to discuss overall goals and set preliminary goals. now we need a diverse group of community members to come together to assess the community's needs and create an actionable plan. every community’s economy is comprised of some combination of nine interrelated economic drivers. the community’s population is balanced on top of these economic drivers. as a community grows, working age population increases and the economy grows. when the population declines and there are fewer workers, the economy contracts. to engineer economic growth, the community must put a plan in place focused on making the economy grow faster than the population.
