economic security il believes that providing income support and direct investment to people who need it is an effective way to close the income and wealth gap, provides economic security for millions of illinois families, and will help grow and expand the middle class. economic security for illinois is building an economic empowerment and inclusion coalition to support economic security policies in illinois, giving space to organizations to collaborate and innovate. we are promoting: a cost-of-living refund for low and moderate-income illinoisans through an expansion and modernization of the state’s earned income credit (eic), development of a guaranteed income pilot program, and eitc program innovations at the city level. economic security for illinois was formed in the spring of 2019, following the release of the big shoulders, bold solutions report by the various stakeholders involved in the chicago resilient families task force.
