ecosystem return foundation (erf) is an international organization established to restore degraded landscapes worldwide, with the aim to deliver social, natural, financial and inspirational returns. the role of the ecosystem return foundation is that of an independent matchmaker between landowners, companies, investors and local organisations, to develop successful restoration partnerships. erf aims to restore 150 million hectares of degraded ecosystems in the next 20 years, in line with international agreements, including the bonn challenge and un conventions. the restoration partnerships developed by erf deliver four returns: 1. natural capital: fertile soils, carbon storage, water 2. social capital: jobs, income, cohesion and engagement 3. return on investment: financial performance 4. inspirational capital: beauty, innovation, meaning
