ecpat inter­na­tional is the lead­ing global net­work work­ing to end the com­mer­cial sex­ual exploita­tion of children. since its incep­tion, ecpat has been a dri­ving force in gal­vanis­ing the world’s atten­tion to the real­i­sa­tion of the right of chil­dren to live free from com­mer­cial sex­ual exploita­tion. ecpat began as a regional cam­paign against child sex tourism in asia in the 1990s and quickly drew the atten­tion and recog­ni­tion of gov­ern­ments and the media. fol­low­ing the first world con­gress against the com­mer­cial sex­ual exploita­tion of chil­dren hosted by the govern­ment of swe­den in stock­holm in 1996, ecpat inter­na­tional was man­dated to mon­i­tor the com­mit­ments of gov­ern­ments around the world in their legal oblig­a­tions to pro­tect chil­dren from sex­ual exploita­tion. based out of bangkok, thai­land, the ecpat network cur­rently has 81 net­work mem­bers in 74 coun­tries. ecpat inter­na­tional is a hub of exper­tise in action and advo­cacy
