ed. collective is a small not-for-profit organisation with huge ambitions when it comes to new zealanders and education. the world is facing an exciting period of unprecedented change in education. the idea of learners as passive receivers of information is gone (or ought to be). the world's most prestigious institutions are opening their virtual doors and doing so free of charge. technology is connecting people and helping us create, share and learn together in ways and on a scale unimaginable even 20 years ago. there is much to celebrate. but not all of the change has been positive. the cost of traditional education continues to climb. a university degree no longer guarantees employment. learner demands and industry needs are arguably no longer being met by systems and institutions created for another time. through all this change one constant remains true. our future will depend on how we collectively create, transfer and value knowledge. how learner communities connect in this caus
