edgewood independent school district in san antonio, tx. eisd is an urban, inner-city school district in southwest san antonio with about 97% hispanic, 1% anglo, 1% african-american, 1% other; the entire district has been allocated to receive free and reduced breakfast and lunches and approximately 70% of the students are classified as at-risk according to texas education agency guidelines. edgewood isd, considered one of the lowest income per capita districts in texas, has been a leader in the fight for equitable school funding and is the "robin hood" school district that sued for redistribution of wealth and receives much of it's operating costs through federal and state funding.
