Edgware Shatnez Centre

a shatnez centre is where trained testers take appropriate samples from a garment (without ruining it!) and examine them using a variety of methods including a microscope to identify the fibres. once the garment has been satisfactory checked it is then certified as kosher and a special “checked for shatnez label” is affixed to the garment. if however, a garment is found to contain shatnez, in most cases, it can be altered and removed for a minimal cost, once this is done, it becomes permitted to wear the garment. there is the rare case however, when this can’t be done. so hold on to your receipt!
