educating the future (etf) — is an australian not-for-profit charity operating at a grassroots level, seeking community and corporate support to deliver high-quality preschool education in the developing nation of timor-leste. timor-leste is the second youngest nation in the world, with one third of the population under the age of 8. these children and their families are still dealing with the effects of the civil war, with 95 per cent of school infrastructure destroyed. our mission is to improve the quality of life for all youth through the power of education. as australia’s second closest neighbour, timor-leste should not be worlds apart in terms of our own educational standards. we can help, so we must. since our registration in 2016 we have successfully supported the community in building a pre-school in timor-leste's ermera district which currently supports 60 children that otherwise would not have had the opportunity to gain an education. we are working in collaboration with the
