the edmonton hispanic bilingual association was founded in 1981 as a non-profit organization, recognized by alberta education, to teach spanish to the english-speaking community at large, and to promote hispanic culture in the city of edmonton, alberta, canada. our organization provides an atmosphere of friendship as an approach to hispanic culture, not only through formal education of the language, but as well through opportunities to practice the language in different social and cultural settings. about 400 adult students each year receive spanish instruction in our facilities. a good many have become friends and familiar faces remaining involved with us, lending their advice and companionship for years.
