the east harlem business capital corporation, inc. (ehbcc) was a nonprofit economic development organization incorporated in 1997 in the state of new york. in february 1999, ehbcc received its 501 (c) 3 federal tax exemption. ehbcc’s mission was to enhance the economy and commerce of el barrio/ spanish harlem, create jobs, and help entrepreneurs and small businesses become successful. ehbcc played a vital role in improving the economic condition and quality of life for all el barrio/ spanish harlem residents by supporting underserved entrepreneurs in starting, stabilizing and establishing businesses, by providing quality business education and financing to small businesses and entrepreneurs that want to build a business.
