the empirical aesthetics research lab is dedicated to cognitive science and memory research, exploring the intersection of humanities and natural sciences. its members are researchers from various universities who together founded earl. as an independent, interdisciplinary laboratory. one goal of the research conducted at earl. is to examine cultural behaviour concerning attentiveness and retentiveness, and to make the resulting insights accessible to the public. to this end, the researchers employ methods ranging from arts-based research to neurophysiology and data science. the research laboratory is part of the trace research group.
