ir courses, inc. exists solely to provide continuing education resources for the vibrational spectroscopy community. having evolved from the well known bowdoin infrared courses, the corporation was established in 2001 to provide the resources and mechanisms to continue the mission of the original programs run by mit and bowdoin college. ir courses is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, registered in the state of georgia. the corporation provides the financial resources to run courses, promote future courses and disseminate materials pertinent to the vibrational spectroscopy community. in effect, the corporation is an endowment to the scientific community to ensure that continuing educational resources exist to provide instruction in vibrational spectroscopy. for fifty years the infrared courses were administered by educational institutions. from 1950 through 1970 the courses were conducted and administered by the massachusetts institute of technology and from 1971 through 2000 by b
