the irene j. notrem foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that sponsors young children in schools and neighborhoods throughout the mountain villages of lesotho, the "flats" of johannesburg south africa or be it the ghetto's of the united states of america. irene affectionately known as "renee" or to her grand kids as "granny muffins" was a lifelong learner always studying to improve herself as a single mom, striving to be better and do better. "renee's belief in seeing the best in people created core values that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren live by today which inspires them to continue to strive towards being the best they can be. in that same spirit irene's children; debbie notrem-anderson, elroy, lionel and oliver notrem created this foundation. their goal is to continue in her tradition of inspiring, encourage and uplifting children from their mother's home country of lesotho and abroad by establishing a yearly scholastic scholarship award to
