Irish Historic Houses Association

the irish historic houses association (ihha) is a membership association for the private owners of historic irish country houses. founded in 2007, the association was incorporated and granted charitable status the following year. during the twentieth century ireland's unique country house heritage was decimated. many of the largest and finest houses were destroyed, demolished or abandoned so those that survive are a precious and important part of our heritage today. ireland has no national trust and a recent survey has established that the bulk of ireland's heritage assets of all types are in private ownership, and rely on the owners for their repair, maintenance and support. despite their importance the remaining houses are highly vulnerable and the association's main purpose is to help them to survive for future generations. the ihha: - represents the members with government and the statutory bodies. voices their concerns and negotiates on their behalf. represents members
