model united nations (mun) is an actual un simulation designed to train participants in international negotiations through research, drafting, lobbying and debate to promote human rights in order to find solutions to global problems. in this context, students take on the role of ambassador by participating in simulations of international sections of the un (such as the general assembly or the security council). preparation and participation in a mun help students develop leadership, research, writing, public speaking and problem-solving skills. furthermore, the search for solutions acceptable to the majority of representatives also inculcates skills in negotiation, conflict resolution and cooperation
