the island storm is pei’s only professional sports franchise and a chartered member in the national basketball league of canada. we are based at charlottetown’s eastlink centre, a 3,700 seat facility in the downtown core of the city. since forming in 2011, the storm has raised or donated in excess of $750,000 to island charities and meet with more than 12,000 students annually. on the court, the storm has a storied history with back-to-back trips to the nbl finals along with two atlantic division titles. the team's sole owner is duncan shaw, who is one of two original owners from the league's inception. the team's senior vice president is brett poirier and the head coach is tim kendrick.
