island fm is a unique radio phenomena broadcasting english speaking shows from the island of zakynthos (zante) in greece. music and shows are all in a familiar english format supporting our thriving local resident community (approximately 3,500). of course, tourism plays a major role in the summer months when the local community plays host to a whopping 450,000 english visitors every summer. island was born on 6 th june 2005 after 2 years of frantic planning and discussions. broadcasting under the banner of stigma fm, which already had established itself as the dominant local radio, island was conceived as the 'sound of the summer". after the massive support of the local community it soon became apparent that island fm would broadcast all year round. but this turned out to be just the beginning. after polling listeners in the local press a new demand has become apparent. friends, family and seasonal workers cried out in unison "what about us?". the result, the island fm website. broadc
