established in 2020 by missanabie cree first nation, isn maskwa is canada’s first indigenous emergency operations centre (ieoc), providing indigenous-led community support. headquartered in sault ste. marie, ontario on the traditional territory of the anishinaabek, isn maskwa’s deployable teams strive to establish and build upon meaningful relationships with first nations, metis, and inuit leaders and communities across the country. our core business pillars provide indigenous communities with a single point of contact for evacuations and emergency response, investigations, training, security, and community safety and well-being planning.
