nanosatlab's goal is to create cutting-edge nanosatellite subsystems. its mission is to promote and encourage technological advancement in space-related sectors, with a particular focus on small satellites. the institution brings together students, researchers, and professors who work together to strengthen the portuguese space industry, particularly in the fields of intelligent antennas, digital radio, energy collection and storage in space, embedded systems, attitude and orbital control, structures and thermal control systems, propulsion, mission planning, space systems engineering, earth observation payloads, and ground segment. the istsat-1, a 1u cubesat designed under esa's fly your satellite! initiative, is the team's major project. it will be the world's first spacecraft, developed in portugal and launched into orbit. nanosatellites have a smaller budget and a simpler design than their larger counterparts. furthermore, their project encompasses a wide range of engineering discip
