kuruluş ve tari̇hçe üniversitemizin kurucu vakfı olan “yeşilköy 2001 eğitim kültür sağlık vakfı", ülkemiz insanının eğitim ve öğretim seviyesini yükseltmek, eğitim, sanat, kültür, sağlık, turizm, sosyal yardım ve özel eğitim ihtiyaçları konularında kamu yararına faaliyetlerde bulunmak ve yatırımlar yapmak amacıyla 19.03.2011 tarihinde kurulmuştur. kurucu vakfımız tarafından, türkiye yükseköğretimine katkı amacı ile üniversitemizin kuruluş başvurusu 2012 yılında yapılmıştır. yapılan başvuru türkiye büyük millet meclisi’nin 12.06.2013 tarihli birleşiminde kabul edilerek, 18.06.2013 tarih ve 28681 sayılı resmi gazetede yayımlanan, 2809 sayılı yükseköğretim kurumları teşkilatı kanununa ek maddeler eklenmesiyle ilgili, 6492 sayılı yasa ile i̇stanbul esenyurt üniversitesi kurulmuştur.
