jack-in-the-pulpit is a private studio that offers workshops, classes and events exploring the worlds of botanical and fine art. classes and workshops are limited in size, providing a focused personal experience for improving art skills. offerings are taught by artist mark granlund with the occasional guest instructor. the setting is a house built in 1900 in a residential neighborhood near lake como in saint paul, mn. the second-floor studio provides plenty of light and gardens provide plein-air opportunities to explore botanical subjects and landscape. media taught include: watercolor, pencil, ink, charcoal and oil paint. classes are generally six weeks long and workshops last anywhere from one to three days. for busy people, some classes meet less often through a mix of online assignments and in-person critique. skill levels covered are beginner to professional artist.
