Jacksonville Illinois Public Library

the jacksonville, illinois, public library (jpl) is a historic carnegie library. opened in 1903, the jpl is a city tax-supported library serving a community of more than 18,000 residents. in addition to the director, the library has a staff of 5 full-time and 7 part-time employees. the jpl is guided by a 9-member board of trustees. the jpl serves both adults and children. in addition to standard library services, program offerings include a concert under the dome music series, regular technology presentations, author talks and a summer reading program for children. an active friends of the library group supports the work of the jpl.
