Jacksonville Mass Choir

jacksonville mass choir (j-mac) is an all-city youth ensemble made up of 40 talented vocalists between the ages of 11-24 in the jacksonville metropolitan area. the choir is under the direction of veteran composer/producer deborah j. mcduffie. j-mac was founded in 2007 as an outgrowth of arts4jax, inc. a non-profit arts organization with emphasis on serving today’s young people in the performing arts. it performs everything from contemporary gospel, spirituals and motown to advanced classical repertoire and music of other cultures. the group traveled to philadelphia in may, performing its “to philly with love” tribute to a sold out crowd of 1800. it held an encore performance of the concert in jacksonville at university of north florida’s lazzara performance hall. jmac will be returning to philadelphia in the spring of 2009 to present its newest production “the journey”. last june the choir was selected to perform for president barack obama at a jacksonville democratic fundraiser at the
