james mccalligan began to shape a vision for his firm after earning a bachelor of architecture degree from the university of oregon in 1982. jim returned to his native california, worked with three architectural firms located in sebastopol, monterey and santa rosa. then upon obtaining his license in 1987, james mccalligan architect, jma was formed in santa rosa, california. jim has always had a passion for architecture, business and the process of building and always wanted to be directly engaged with the client. jim developed a niche and reputation for his architecture talent and service. jma grew into an firm of four carefully selected highly skilled people with varied talents of their own. though, james mccalligan is a member of the redwood empire american institute of architects and has received numerous awards for his designs . the mission of jma is to produce unique thoughtful design solutions combining quality architecture with the full respect of the site and complete regard fo
