jamia queer collective is an independent student-led initiative trying to build safe spaces for queers and their allies. it is the first queer collective to have taken form in jamia millia islamia; when in 2018, a group of like minded people from the community decided to reclaim their space. our main objectives are to increase awareness and understanding of gender and sexuality, and to provide an inclusive space that enables and empowers people to be who they truly are. we aim to provide a platform to the unseen and a pen to the unheard. apart from conducting seminars, workshops, panel discussions and movie screenings; one of our the main goals is to start informal gatherings that encourage dialogues between people from different backgrounds in a comfortable and non-judgmental environment.
