i am a self taught artist who specialises in torn paper collages. i've been interested in arts and crafts from an early age. over the years i've tried everything from decoupage, paper mache, paper cutting, jewelery making and many others. two years i had a long absence from work following foot surgery. looking for something to pass my time i came across torn paper collages on pinterest and was particularly intrigued by a couple of american based collage artists. i am always keen to try something new and i endeavoured on my first collage which was a kingfisher. i must say i was more than surprised and pleased with the result and the encouraging feedback i got from others. it inspired me to continue. i feel that i have finally found my niche with torn paper collage as it incorporates everything i enjoy. as it allows me to create beautiful images by tearing and precisely cutting tiny bits of paper which are sourced from old magazines and books( which also fits in with my ethos of upcy
