japanese karate academy is a traditional japanese martial arts dojo established by john hileman, a firefighter and paramedic in the johnson county area. my goal is to instill the spirit and honor of traditional budo and encourage every student to not only exceed their expectations, but mine as well. our style is based on the techniques and training of shindo-jinen ryu, shotokan, jujitsu, and aikido, but with self-defense adapted to the unfortunate reality of today's society. though our focus is on self-defense, we also devote significant time to conditioning and sport competition.
