two core topics have driven my research interests over the past five years while completing my formal education; these interests are at the core of my consultancy. (1) enhancing nutraceutical content of vegetables grown in the southwestern desert under controlled water stress. (2) understanding why arizona vegetables have added value: determining the role of environmental factors on nutritional content and postharvest quality of leafy greens. in two recently completed investigations we utilized: a controlled environment agriculture (cea) system, with ebb and flow irrigation (efi) tables, to independently impose five levels of salinity (1.5 to 9.5 ds m-1 electrical conductivity - ec), to observe the responses of our specialty leafy vegetables to an imposed and regulated stress. in a third field trial, we investigation the response (i.e., the changes in nutritional content) of leafy vegetables to reduced light treatments, seven days pre-harvest, and early irrigation termination strategie
