the jewish community of latvia promotes religious, social and community life of jews, represents the interests of latvian jews at the national and international level and familiarises the public with the history and culture of latvian jews. the community supports various cultural and educational programmes and activities of different jewish organisations, such as synagogues, schools, art groups and others. with support from foundations and jewish organisations around the world, the congregation provides centralised support for low-income elderly people and children and also ensures the preservation of cultural and historical heritage.
