we design web sites, write web applications, develop software. we are also data specialists. every day, internet presence becomes more accessible to potential customers. it's amazing how people spend so much time and money on business cards, and then create a website as an afterthought. ask your customers how they find businesses. ask them to describe their collection of business cards. see if they are able or willing to leaf through their card collection and pick out the best looking card, and do business based on their selection. of course, much of your responses will vary based on their demographic. if your business relies solely on baby-boomers or older, you will find more people reliant on their card rolodex. they may choose the best looking card. if that is your target, perhaps the web is not for you. but keep in mind that even this demographic is shifting with the times. it's just plain easier.
