Joanne Wishart - Art

colour, creativity and lots of it! i am a professional artist based at my studio in the mushroom works, newcastle upon tyne. i was born in berwick upon tweed and grew up in the beautiful northumberland countryside. in 2000 i gained bdes (hons) in printed textile design from duncan of jordanstone college of art, dundee. i started my career as a freelance designer selling hawaiian shirt prints to the usa. in 2006 together with my husband ross we set up “wishart” a self publishing art, print and greetings card company and in 2009 i won a female entrepreneur award for the north east of england’s best creative business. today i live in north shields with my husband ross and twin sons finley and fraser. the british coastal landscape is the main inspiration for my work, which aims to capture and celebrate those happy memories of days out by the seaside. i work using a variety of materials including, paint, textiles, maps and driftwood and then combine them using painting, printmaking, colla
