resumes have historically existed as a means of making the process of screening candidates for positions more efficient and effective. for years, this summary of the "course of one's life" served its purpose as well as any one medium could, considering the technology unavailable at the time. as communication / technology has been transformed, the speeds at which this vehicle arrived has been maximized - (instantaneous with a few keystrokes). now we must find new ways to evolve - improving the quality of the information we are measuring. the resume is a useful tool. the resume is still just words on a piece of paper.. and you're not hiring a piece of paper.
